First Swords sessions focus on the FUNdamental skills. This set of cross over skills focuses on the basic conditioning of the body to take part in any sport and many activities in everyday life. We look at improving the students co-ordination, balance and agility by using a series of fun games and simple exercises.
We will also explore the basic positions and movements for fencing and use foam swords with plastic masks to play fencing games and encourage a love of the sport. We operate 3 Achievement goals in our First Swords Program coving the 3 basic FUNdamentals of
Co-ordination, balance and agility.
At the end of each term, the students may be assessed and have the opportunity to achieve their BFA Green, Blue or Yellow Mini Swords Award.
